The Play Clean Go Program aims to reduce the spread of invasive species by people involved in outdoor activities. Although the “Play” in Play Clean Go refers to recreational activities like hiking and horseback riding, it is also relevant to people working outdoors.

Clean Drain Dry targets the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species by encouraging watercraft users to inspect their boats and remove any visible debris and animals act time they leave a body of water.

The Buy Local Burn Local Program has been developed to reduce the spread of forest pests by people who transport firewood from one area to another. Destructive forest pets can live on and in firewood, and hitch a ride when people move firewood around. In some parts of Nova Scotia where there are known invasive species, moving firewood from a designated area is illegal.
